Meet Team OSG- Kris Nign

My name is Kris Nign- creator of K9Fitness, Strength & Conditioning coach at Old School Gym- New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Slaughterhouse Gym in Minerva, Ohio. I’m a 23 year old, former strong safety in college-turned-classroom teacher, personal-trainer, Strength & Conditioning Coach, and Defensive Backs coach.

It’s my passion to develop the minds and bodies of athletes. I have years of experience in the athletic development field with a focus on developing the minds and bodies of athletes. Developing superior athletes requires endless preparation. When working with my athletes, I preach the famous quote: “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.”

My college football career was cut short during my junior year after a fourth meniscus tear, and a shoulder surgery. With this being said, I’ve dedicated three full, productive years to training athletes of all sports. I’ve worked with athletes varying from middle school runners to Division 1 college football players.

I earned my B.S. in Education from Marietta College, and I am currently working on my CSCS through the National Strength & Conditioning Association. I played football for 13 years and have three years of experience of training athletes. Specifically, I have trained five high school athletes that went on to earn First-Team honors, Divisions 1-3, a Division 3 college running back that went on to earn 2x All-American honors, and a Division 1 Defensive End that went on to earn Second-Team honors. I have also competed in two NPC bodybuilding shows. I competed as a physique athlete at 20 years old and as a classic physique athlete at 21 years old, which earned my first trip to the podium. I have also competed in a couple of powerlifting meets.
